Lloyd Kaufman, President of Troma Entertainment and creator of The Toxic Avenger will be a special guest at the prestigious Frida Cinema to kick off their Troma Month with the California Premiere of the second installment of his 2 part event film, Return to Return to Nuke ‘Em High AKA Vol.2 on Thursday, July 20th, in Santa Ana, CA.  Vol.2 will be preceded by Kaufman’s Return to Nuke ‘Em High Vol.1 at 8pm and a special performance by Toxie’s Foxies: Troma Burlesque.

Lloyd Kaufman & Michael Herz present a Troma Team Production:
“It is a great honor to have my 2 part event film shown at the historic Frida Cinema. After the World Premiere of Vol.2 at the Museum of the Moving Image, it is only fitting that I take the films to the West Coast and screen it for all to see! Toxie and I thank Logan and the Frida Cinema team for presenting this film that the Troma Team and I have been working on for the past 7 years. We put our sweat, blood and slime into the production and can’t wait for the world to see it! Vol.2 truly is as my partner and VP of Troma Entertainment, Michael Herz says, “The best Troma movie ever made!” stated Lloyd Kaufman, Director of Return to Return to Nuke ‘Em High AKA Vol.2
This TROMATIC event will kick off with Lloyd Kaufman’s Return to Nuke ‘Em High Vol.1 at 8PM. After the film’s thrilling conclusion, the audience will be treated to performances by TOXIE’S FOXIES: TROMA BURLESQUE!  Curated and performed by members of the Rocky Horror shadow cast K.A.O.S. and special guests, the performers will be bringing some of Troma’s most iconic characters to life with some naughty thrusting, bending, and scantily-clad gyrating!   The night will end with the West Coast Premiere of Return to Return to Nuke ‘Em High aka Vol.2!

Quentin Tarantino has been a fan and friend of Troma for years, and when he suggested to Lloyd Kaufman he should create an “Event Film,” Kaufman took note. “Michael Herz and I decided that to mark Troma’s 40th year we, too, would produce an ‘Event Film’ in two volumes just like Quentin did,” says Kaufman, “except slightly less lavish in the budget area.” Return to Nuke ‘Em High: Vol. 1 & 2, directed by Lloyd Kaufman, is a hilarious, thoughtful sci-fi “Event Film” with themes ripped straight from today’s headlines: the contamination and degradation of the world’s food supply, rampant bullying, and LGBTQ love triumphing over prejudice and violence.
The film, a revisiting of Troma’s 1986 Class of Nuke ‘Em High is in the same vein as other classics such as Class of 1984, Rock ‘n’ Roll High School, and Carrie, but seen through the unique vision of Lloyd Kaufman and the Troma Team. Welcome to Tromaville High School where, unfortunately, the glee club has mutated into a vicious gang of Cretins. Chrissy and Lauren, two innocent lesbian lovers, must fight not only the Cretins, mutants and monsters but also the evil Tromorganic Foodstuffs Conglomerate. Can they and Kevin the Wonder Duck save Tromaville High School and the world?
