Ship to Shore and Locked Groove to release long-lost vinyl soundtrack to the 1988 cult action masterpiece, TROMA’S WAR!

Brooklyn, June 19, 2017 – Today, Ship to Shore PhonoCo, a New York-based independent record label, is proud to announce the upcoming release of TROMA’S WAR. Nearly 10 years in the making, the remastered, never before available soundtrack, lands on vinyl and digital in record stores nationwide and online at www.tromaswar.com on July 4th, 2017.

Composed and performed by Chris DeMarco and directed by Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz, TROMA’S WAR tells the story of a group of marooned citizens who stumble upon a terrorist plot to take over the United States. With no help in sight and no way to contact reinforcements, it’s up to these ordinary people to save the world! A political satire of the glamorization of war in the 1980s, TROMA’S WAR is considered Troma’s “undiscovered masterpiece,” and the film celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2018.

Released in collaboration with Locked Groove Recording Co., a Colorado-based independent record label, the original motion picture score to TROMA’S WAR has been painstakingly remastered from the original master tapes by the composer at Dreamco Music Studios in Kennesaw, GA.

Featuring the complete motion picture score including cuts not used in the final film, TROMA’S WAR will be released on 140-gram red and orange “Triumphant Explosion” colored vinyl and is limited to 1000 copies worldwide. A download card containing the score along with extended cuts will be included with the vinyl release and also available separately at www.tromaswar.com.

Chris DeMarco has been writing and performing music since the early 1970s, playing with the likes of Billy Joel, Tom Scholz (Boston), Dick Wagner (Alice Cooper band) and a virtual “who’s who” of legendary musicians, which culminated in the formation of his band Riff Raff, which was signed to Island Records. Chris has released five full-length albums, the latest of which, Genetic Marker, was released in 2016. Chris also composed the music for the 1989 Troma film, TOXIC AVENGER PART III: THE LAST TEMPTATION OF TOXIE, based on the music of Antonin Dvorak.

Ship to Shore and Locked Groove will present a release party for TROMA’S WAR on July 11th, 2017, culminating in a rare 35mm screening of the unrated director’s cut of the film at Nitehawk Cinema (136 Metropolitan Ave. in Williamsburg, Brooklyn). Composer Chris DeMarco and co- director Lloyd Kaufman will be in attendance, signing copies of the vinyl for fans.

Written and Directed by Nick Grant, Gutboy is what @DiceonFilm calls “one of the most unique films Troma Entertainment has distributed in years.” Gutboy  uses a large array of marionettes and stick puppets which were handled by Puppet Designer and Lead Puppeteer, Daniel Fay, and the film’s rich and triumphant score was composed by Cormac Blustone (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia).

Quentin Tarantino has been a fan and friend of Troma for years, and when he made Kill Bill in two volumes to create an “Event Film,” Lloyd Kaufman took note. “Michael Herz and I decided that to mark Troma’s 40th year we, too, would produce an ‘Event Film’ in two volumes just like Quentin did,” says Kaufman, “except slightly less lavish in the budget area.” Return to Nuke ‘Em High: Vol. 1 & 2, directed by Lloyd Kaufman, is a hilarious, thoughtful sci-fi “Event Film” with themes ripped straight from today’s headlines: the contamination and degradation of the world’s food supply, rampant bullying, and LGBTQ love triumphing over prejudice and violence. 
 
The film, a revisiting of Troma’s 1986 Class of Nuke ‘Em High is in the same vein as other classics such as Class of 1984, Rock ‘n’ Roll High School, and Carrie, but seen through the unique vision of Lloyd Kaufman and the Troma Team. Welcome to Tromaville High School where, unfortunately, the glee club has mutated into a vicious gang of Cretins. Chrissy and Lauren, two innocent lesbian lovers, must fight not only the Cretins, mutants and monsters but also the evil Tromorganic Foodstuffs Conglomerate. Can they and Kevin the Wonder Duck save Tromaville High School and the world?

AURORA GRABILL- ACTRESS
 
Aurora Grabill, 33, the star of Memento Mortis, is no stranger to the New England horror and B-movie scene. The Massachusetts native made her film debut in the 2005 film Raving Maniacs and went on to be featured in many genre films including The Disco Exorcist, Frankenstein’s Hungry Dead, Honky Holocaust (on Troma Now), Space People, The Ungovernable Force, and Blood of the Tribades.
ADAM CHANDONNET – DIRECTOR/WRITER
 
Adam Chandonnet, 28, is a Massachusetts based independent filmmaker. He made his feature debut with Memento Mortis, a film he both wrote and directed. Chandonnet has been writing since he was a child but didn’t turn to filmmaking until high school as something fun to do with friends. In 2014, he created the web series Cannibal Girl, a lesbian themed horror comedy starring Aurora Grabill. Chandonnet has also written and directed a handful of short films including Dead Light District and Object of My Affection.
