DANCING INTO THE FUTURE SYNOPSIS | CREDITS | FEATURES
SYNOPSIS

In August 2004, National Dance Institute founder Jacques D'Amboise took a group of his teaching staff and dancers to Shanghai to work with Doudou Huang and a thousand young Chinese dancers from the Shanghai Song and Dance Ensemble, to create a special performance created by Mr. D'Amboise, "Dancing into the Future,'' which was presented at the Shanghai Grand Theater and dedicated to the 2007 Shanghai Special Olympics World Games.

Father and son filmmaking team Anthony G. Avildsen and Academy Award®-winning director John G. Avildsen, along with producer Lloyd Kaufman, journeyed with the troupe to China to document the event, which integrated such varied dance styles as hip-hop, free style jazz, street dance and traditional Chinese folk dance.
