Recently, we have seen a resurgence of
interest in the great abstract expressionist painter Jackson Pollock,
not to be confused with the allegedly great abstract expressionist child
molester Michael Jackson Pollock. Jackson Pollock's work has been the
subject of retrospectives, books and documentaries.Pollock's paintings were characterized by a seemingly random array of drips, streaks, and splashes on the canvas. However, what at first glance appears to be chaos often reveals, upon closer examination, a carefully constructed design. Unfortunately, this design can be frustratingly difficult to pinpoint. Pollock hated to have people observe his creative process and despised cameras.
But last week, we found, buried deep within the Troma Archives, extremely rare footage of Pollock himself at work. These photographs are part of a larger collection to be broadcast on Troma's Edge TV on the United Kingdom's Channel Four.
