The gritty, gruesome, grindhouse FATHER’S DAY follows that classic story we all grew up with: boy watches father murdered, boy grows into a vengeful one-eyed man, man teams up with a priest and a male prostitute to take down his father’s killer. In KILL, six strangers, winners of a dream vacation contest, awake to find themselves terrorized by insane Tiki-men in masks and taunted by their deranged captors.  It soon becomes clear than only one thing will save them: kill or be killed! WHERE EVIL LIVES, a buried treasure from 1991 directed by Stephen A. Maier, Kevin G. Nunan & Richard L. Fox Jr, consists of three 30-minute horror stories as told by Jack Devlin (Claude Akins).  The stories feature a mass murderer, a vampire, and a modern day witch who helps the police stop a demented doctor.  WHERE EVIL LIVES will be available in May.

Adam Green directed Hatchet (2006), Hatchet 2 (2010), which starred Lloyd Kaufman, and Frozen (2010), and is now writing and producing Hatchet 3.  Joe Lynch, a former Troma alum, is the director of Wrong Turn 2 (2007) and the upcoming adventure Knights of Badassdom and the action thriller Everly, shooting this Spring.  He claims to be Kaufman’s adopted son, and more well endowed than Green and Kaufman combined.  Green & Lynch starred in and executive produced the FEARnet series Holliston, which Green wrote and directed.

History of Astron-6: On March 3, 1969 the United States Navy established an elite school for the top one percent of its pilots. Its purpose was to teach the lost art of aerial combat and to ensure that the handful of men who graduated were the best fighter pilots in the world.  They succeeded.  Today, the Navy calls it Fighter Weapons School. The flyers call it: Astron-6.

Troma Entertainment is proud to announce that Mark Neveldine (who has learned everything he needs to know about alcohol consumption from Troma’s Lloyd Kaufman) will host the New York premiere of Father’s Day at Sunshine Cinema at midnight on Friday, February 10. He will join Father’s Day producer and creator of The Toxic Avenger, Kaufman, in hosting this historic evening, which will include a Q&A with Astron-6, who directed the movie.  If conditions are right, Neveldine and Kaufman may recreate their famous “passing out drunk under the theatre seats” technique, which is instrumental to their filmmaking.

Mark Neveldine is best known as the writer & director of Crank (2006), Crank: High Voltage (2009) and Gamer (2009) which starred Lloyd Kaufman. His new film Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, filmed in distant Romania (in order to get away from Lloyd Kaufman) and starring Nicholas Cage, opens on February 17 nationwide.

Unlike mainstream, elitist festivals like Cannes and Sundance, TromaDance does not charge film makers anything to submit their films.  All TromaDance screenings are free and with the festival’s “No VIP Policy”, celebrities and fans are treated equally.  TromaDance will be held at Asbury Lanes in historic Asbury Park, New Jersey on May 4th and 5th.

As is the tradition, part of the TromaDance budget is funded by fans. This year the festival is being partially crowd-funded through Kickstarter. We still need donations to get to our fan goal of $4000. Whilst I am all for killing Piracy of our intellectual property, the proposed SOPA and PIP laws do not solve this and will lead to ISPs and the US government having power like China and Iran to “wall off” or destroy our independent sites with no due process!! Obama is against SOPA/PIP. Anthology Film Archives is shelling out an Eggs-cellent program with this screening, which can be considered something of a Thankschrismakawanzayears Day (with an egg on top) gift to all of Troma’s feathered and plucked fans. First, Anthology will be presenting Chirpy, a film Oscar Nominated animator Bill Plympton described as “one of the sickest animated films ever made.”

They will then continue the evening with Kaufman’s critically acclaimed Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead. Nathan Lee of the New York Times had the following to  say about Poultrygeist: “Within the context of its genre – the satirical sexploitation zombie chicken gross-out musical extravaganza – it is just about as perfect as a film predicated on the joys of projectile vomiting and explosive diarrhea can be…Poultrygeist plays like a grindhouse analogue to the sloppy, psychosexual provocations of the performance artist Paul McCarthy and is, in its lowbrow way, every bit as  liberating.” That’s nothing to shake your tail feathers at.

If that wasn’t enough egg-citement for you, there will also be a Q&A with the two films’ creators and plenty of “clucked-up” Troma merchandise available, all of which the ruler of the roost, Lloyd Kaufman will sign free of charge.  Beak there or be square.

HorrorVision has created a unique Troma seminar during which Kaufman, as well as his alter-ego, The Toxic Avenger, will answer questions, both professional and very intimate. The festival will also make available Troma merchandise including DVDs, tee shirts and posters, all of which Kaufman will sign free of charge.

In addition, the festival will be screening the iconic Troma classic Class of Nuke’Em High. Even more significant will be the European premiere of the truly beyond belief, The Taint. The Taint was discovered at the 2011 Tromadance Film Festival and represents the next generation of the Troma School of film making. There will also be a Tromette contest.  Tromettes are Gyno-Spanish in small clothing with big …brains.
