The Troma Team arrived at the Cannes Film Festival, which marks the beginning of the Occupy Cannes Movement and the making of Troma’s Occupy Cannes documentary. Troma’s Lloyd Kaufman exclaimed “The Occupy Cannes team has arrived at the Cannes Film Festival to fight for the rights of all independent artists.”

The Troma Team will hold two screenings of Return to Nuke ‘Em High: Volume One at Cannes; a secret screening on Thursday, May 16th at 3:30pm in Arcades 3, and the world premiere on Tuesday, May 21st at 3:30pm in Arcades 3. The screenings will call attention the Occupy Cannes movement.

“Return to Nuke ‘em High is a politically conscious, punk horror film which deals with many of the Occupy Cannes themes”, says Return to Nuke ‘em High Producer Justin Martell.

Lead by Troma Entertainment, the Occupy Cannes movement will use the Cannes Film Festival to draw attention to the disparity in opportunity between the mega-media conglomerates and independent artists. “Give art back to the people!” exhorts Lloyd Kaufman, President of Troma Entertainment. The Occupy Cannes demonstrations and the forthcoming documentary of the same name, will explore the corporate-controlled film and media market. It will also honor the independent artists who continue their creative pursuits despite the challenges posed by an ever more consolidated industry. Similarly, the movement will inform independent artists how they can better co-exist with, work around, and change the mainstream to promote truly independent art in all its forms.

James Nguyen, the Master of Romantic Thrillers™ and auteur behind the Birdemic series, will screen his latest Hitchcockian epic, Birdemic 2: The Resurrection, at the 14th Annual TromaDance Film Festival at Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park, NJ on Saturday, April 13th at 11PM, it was announced today by TromaDance founder Lloyd Kaufman. Nguyen will also appear in person for a Q&A and to meet with fans. Birdemic: Shock and Terror and its enigmatic director were discovered by Troma during TromaDance 2009, and the series has since become favorite among horror fans. 14th Annual TromaDance Announces 2013 Short Film Selections

The TromaDance Film Festival Selection Committee is pleased to announce its short film selections for the 14th Annual TromaDance Film Festival, to be held on April 12-13 at Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park, NJ. “The short films that the TromaDance Selection Committee chose this year represent truly independent filmmaking and show that the independent spirit is alive and well across the world,” said TromaDance founder Lloyd Kaufman. “The selections for this year’s festival come from the United States, Canada, England, Lithuania, Iran, Italy, Germany, Spain, and France!” Below are the official 14th Annual TromaDance short film selections:

Lloyd Kaufman’s highly anticipated ‘live free or die’ tour of New Hampshire begins TONIGHT! This evening, Wednesday, March 20th, at 7:30 PM, Kaufman will appear at Troma-Fest 2013′s screening of The Toxic Avenger at the Seacoast Repertory Theatre, at 125 Bow St. in Portsmouth, NH. In addition to an introduction and Q&A session, Kaufman will show exclusive, work-in-progress footage from the latest Troma Team production, Return to Nuke ‘Em High Vol. 1. Troma DVD’s, T-Shirts, and other amazing pieces of Tromabilia will also be available. Admission is only $20.

On Friday, March 22nd, at 7:00 PM, Kaufman will make a second appearance in the Granite State for a double-feature of The Taint and Tromeo & Juliet in the Redfern Arts Center-Putnam Theatre at Keene State College in Keene, NH. In addition to a Q&A, Troma DVD’s, T-Shirts, and Tromabilia will be again be available. As an added bonus, Kaufman will be appearing in a music video to be shot in the Putnam Theatre at 2 PM on the same day, Friday, March 22nd. ROCK WITH TOXIE, a Troma-themed concert, will be held on Saturday, March 16th, at 9PM, at the Peacock Room, 1321 North Mills Ave, Orlando, FL! In addition to an in-person appearance by Troma President/Creator of the Toxic Avenger Lloyd Kaufman (who will sign any piece of Tromabilia for FREE), Toxie, and the World-Famous Tromettes, the concert line-up includes the all-girl punk band The Areolas, thrash combo SLAG, autoharp and keytar virtuosos Architects of Fear (also featured on the soundtrack of the latest Troma Team production Return to Nuke ‘Em High Vol. I & II), and the 300 LB speedo-clad comedy shock rocker Tony Virtue! The Peacock Room will also be serving special Troma-themed drinks, “Tromatinis,” “Subhumanoid Meltdowns,” and the ever-popular “Toxic Testicle Nectar!” Admission is only $6, so don’t be a cretin, attend this meetin’!

Lloyd Kaufman and the Troma Team will also be appearing at MegaCon 2013, held at the Orange County Convention Center, Hall D, 9800 International Drive, Orlando, FL 32819.
