TromaDance is the first film festival wholeheartedly devoted to filmmakers and fans. Unlike every other film festival, TromaDance does not charge filmmakers to submit their films. Entrance to all screenings is free and open to the public. Also, there are no VIP reservations or preferential treatment regarding films, panels, or parties of any kind given. The organizers of TromaDance believe films are meant to be seen, especially when it comes to new filmmakers. Art - in all its forms - is for the people!
TromaDance features a range of films made independently, usually without big stars, big money and far removed from the Hollywood studio system. The official selections of TromaDance have been made with nothing more than passion, courage, integrity, and raw talent.
Everyone at TromaDance is treated as an equal. The elite and the celebrated are treated no better or worse than the experimental filmmaker or the random moviegoer off the street. Admittance to all screenings, panels, parties, and events is strictly on a first come, first served basis. If there are any VIPs at TromaDance, they are the filmmakers whose blood, sweat, and hard work are on the screen.
TromaDance is an opportunity for everyone who’s ever picked up a camera to have their work seen without the compromises required by elitist cartel interference. TromaDance is proud to be the first and only film festival of the people, for the people, and by the people.

financing opportunities and the role of governments in film production.

the U.S. economy both domestically and abroad and how it is integral to
the artistic and cultural profile of the United States. This industry is

breadth in the global digital era, can legislation protect and nourish
independent filmmaking and media? Data and research will be presented.

Festival, booth number where Lloyd Kaufman will be coming soon.
Cinema Wasteland started out as a collector’s video service in the late 80’s known as Video Wasteland.
In the Spring of 1993, with more and more independently owned video stores being sucked up by the sterile, uncaring and totally in-it-for-the-money corporate video chain stores, we officially opened a rent-by-mail video service that specialized in rare, out-of-print, and hard to find “Drive-In” era horror and exploitation films. We created a niche service for horror movie fans that was often copied but never duplicated.
Soon after we opened our rental service we added movie memorabilia, posters, and assorted collectibles to the film selection we offered and have since become one of the leading sources for original 60’s and 70’s horror and monster movie posters (at some of the best prices around, I might add.)
In September of 2000 we held our first Cinema Wasteland Movie and Memorabilia Expo and kicked off the Wasteland version of a movie convention in grand style by presenting the first ever “Dawn of the Dead” cast and crew reunion. Due to fan response, we added a second Movie and Collectible Convention to the mix in the Spring of 2004 and currently run a Spring show in April and our annual Fall show every October. In the years following our first show, we have firmly established the Cinema Wasteland Movie and Memorabilia Expo as one of the leading movie and collectible conventions in the country. Never one to rest on our reputation, we will continue to do our best to stay ahead of the pack with every one of our future shows.
By 2003, our once mighty rental service went the way of most other “mom and pop” stores in the country, and was shut down by ridiculous postal rate hikes and the general laziness of a race of people that are willing to click on the TV and pretty much watch any crap thrown against their living room wall.
Now, over twenty years after the Wasteland legacy began, we are still hanging in there as your number one source for everything from Aliens to Zombies and, amazing enough, are now discovering our third generation of happy fans, friends, and customers.
Stick with Cinema Wasteland. After twenty plus years in this business, we promise that you'll enjoy the ride

From the Spooky Movie Film Fest website:
THE LLOYD KAUFMAN MASTER CLASS - The following evening (Friday, July 18) Lloyd Kaufman will be conducting the crash course version of his world renowned filmmaking Master Class at University Mall Cinemas. The author of several books, including “Make Your Own Damn Movie!!,” Lloyd has taught this seminar at prestigious academic institutions such as Yale University and University of Southern California, as well as overseas at institutions like the St. Petersburg Film Museum in Russia, Perth Film Festival in Australia and Norwegian Film Development. This is a rare opportunity to receive some first-hand knowledge from the man behind the oldest truly independent film company in the world. This informative two and a half hour course will cover everything an up-and-coming filmmaker must know to get their dream projects off the ground.
Students will learn how to:
Get started on their first film project
Find financing
Understand what’s involved in pre-production
Choose a crew and production group
Survive both large and small crises
By the end of the two hour course, students will leave with dozens of creative and practical tips that are invaluable to aspiring filmmakers and get a real inside look at how it’s all done.
“Lloyd Kaufman's Master Class presented USC film students with the attitude and inspiration necessary to plunge into the film industry without relying on large budgets, sophisticated technology or industry contacts. Kaufman's enthusiasm and experience made his Master Class a valuable learning experience and kept the audience hanging on his every word.” --Professor Alessandro Ago, University of Southern CA.

WIN A DREAM DATE WITH LLOYD KAUFMAN!!!*
Yes, that’s right, Troma is stooping to new lows in shameless self-promotion!
Contest rules:
The person who organizes the largest single group of ticket buyers to the 7:00pm or 9:00pm screening of Poultrygeist at the Times Cinema in Milwaukee on Friday, August 24th, (as determined by Times Cinema staff), will be taken out with a friend for COCK-tails (or milkshakes for those under the legal drinking age) by Lloyd Kaufman following the 9:00pm screenings.
Support Independent Art! Support your alcohol habit!
Ply Lloyd with public compliments, and he will ply you with booze!
*Not necessarily your dream, or anyone’s dream, really. . . In fact, Lloyd Kaufman never even had a date in high school, so really this is probably more like his dream. Especially if it involves oil, a crowbar, and several jars of peanut butter.
Poultrygeist is one of this summer’s films not from the makers of 40Year Old Virgin…. But it was made by a 61 year-old virgin. (Not counting Eskimo kisses.)

Yes, that's right, Troma is stooping to new lows in shameless self-promotion!
Contest rules: The person who organizes the largest single group of ticket buyers to the 9:00pm screening of Poultrygeist at the Loft Cinema in Tucson, AZ on Friday, September 21 st , (as determined by Loft Cinema staff), will be taken out with a friend for COCK-tails (or milkshakes for those under the legal drinking age) by Lloyd Kaufman & Elske McCain following the 9:00pm screenings.
Support Independent Art! Support your alcohol habit!
Ply Lloyd with public compliments, and he will ply you with booze!
*Not necessarily your dream, or anyone's dream, really. . . In fact, Lloyd Kaufman never even had a date in high school, so really this is probably more like his dream. Especially if it involves oil, a crowbar, and several jars of peanut butter. Let's be honest--you should be in this to hang out with Elske.
Poultrygeist is one of this summer's films not from the makers of 40Year Old Virgin .... But it was made by a 61 year-old virgin. (Not counting Eskimo kisses.)
