Greetings from Tromaville!
I’m Actium Maximus .
The seasons are starting to change again, and frankly yours truly, Actium Maximus, is feeling horny. All those ladies out there are wearing smaller clothes, dressing in MACABRE PAIRS OF SHORTS, and it makes me want to shout "ACTION IS GO!," if you know what I'm saying.
Anyhow, here's some movies.
Juicy June Releases!

ROCK N ROLL SPACE PATROL ACTION IS GO! and HICK TREK 2
This science fiction double-feature comes to you loaded with extras. The extras for ROCK N ROLL SPACE PATROL ACTION IS GO include director commentary, CASTOVISION -- video cast commentary, outtakes, a where-are-they-now? featurette for the characters, and even a really easy-to-find Easter Egg (which is to say we screwed up in the design and made the Easter Egg visible). Bill Gibron highly recommends it on DVD Talk, in a review which calls it "one of the best DVDs [Troma] has released" and somehow uses the term "Jack Off of All Trades" in a way that is meant to be read positively. |

MACABRE PAIR OF SHORTS
Don't be fooled by the sham advertising on this DVD. I'm not talking about the fact that David Boreanaz, star of TV's BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER and ANGEL, is only in the movie for about a minute yet his name is huge on the box -- that's no shock. After all, Troma is the company behind the DVD of Def By Temptation. I'm talking about this whole "pair of shorts" thing. I watched this movie while waxing my dog's back, and though I wasn't paying complete attention -- Foofy requires a lot of attention when cleaning up his problem areas -- but there are more than 2 shorts that make up this film. There's like 4. We should sue. |

DEATH ON FILM 2 PACK: SCREAMPLAY and TERROR
This is probably my favorite 2-pack so far. One of Lloyd Kaufman's best directorial features, TERROR FIRMER, comes in its unrated 1-disc edition accompanied by the criminally underseen SCREAMPLAY, starring and directed by Rufus Butler Seder (and co-starring filmmaking maverick George Kuchar). SCREAMPLAY is a low-budget black-and-white cult film in the vein of ERASERHEAD and FORBIDDEN ZONE, and deserves a legion of fans as rabid as those films. |

THE SECRET OF DR. KILDARE
Lew Ayres (who bears a striking resemblance to a young Jack Lemmon) stars as the title doctor in this third entry in the classic MGM Dr. Kildare series. Lionel Barrymore (brother of John Barrymore, great uncle of Drew Barrymore) costars as Kildare’s crusty, wheelchair-bound mentor Dr. Gillespie. In this episode, Dr. Kildare must figure out what to do with a rich society girl who has gone psychosomatically blind, while the film balances at least three other subplots in a lean 85 minutes. |

ZOMBIEGEDDON
There’s been some talk from people who assume this will stink because frankly, they hated SLAUGHTER PARTY, the last film associated with Chris Watson, who was producer on SLAUGHTER PARTY and director of this film. I can’t make a declaration on behalf of all potential viewers, but I think this has a bit more polish to it, and some keen moments – like the zombie-eating tiger scene, and the ninja zombie scene. Also, the disc is loaded down with 2 commentaries and over an hour of cast and crew interviews and featurettes. Plus there’s a few exclusive Tromatic goodies, including a brand-new interview with goremeister Herschell Gordon Lewis, and the first featurette in what will probably become a series of behind-the-scenes looks at the making of POULTRYGEIST (look for the next making-of featurette on THE EVOLVED in September, most likely). |

THE EVOLVED
This insane dark comedy from England just screened at Cannes to overwhelmingly positive responses. To put it plainly, they went bananas. So will you. |
Coming in October:
CANNIBAL! THE MUSICAL 10TH ANNIVERSARY 2-DISC SET
For those of you who have treasured the commentary to this set, I am sad to say that there is no even drunker 2006 update commentary on this set, but the original classic commentary is preserved. And on the plus side there will be brand-new interviews with Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and other brand-new featurettes as well. |
Other Updates:
•For the 7,038th time, Giuseppe Andrews’s BATHROBE HOME SCHOOL BOX SET is being pushed back. This is partly due to the unexpected extra work which has had to go into the making of the upcoming TROMEO AND JULIET and CANNIBAL! 2-disc sets, and partly due to the fact that we at Troma are the puppets of Satan and Satan hates you. This 5-film collection should see the light of day in early 2007, while Giuseppe’s newest film, which was originally going to be called CHICORY AND THE DIARRHEA NIGHTMARE is being re-edited to be combined with another finished film of Giuseppe’s to make a new creature tentatively titled OKIE DOKIE, or OKIE DOKIE CHRISTMAS. The new film should come out before the end of the year.
•BELCEBU: DIABLOS LESBOS, the Spanish-language masterpiece originally set for August has been delayed due to technical issues with the authoring. We will pop it back into the schedule as soon as these issues have been resolved.
•Another shorts collection, either a new edition of the BEST OF TROMADANCE and/or TOXIE’S BLOODY MEAT LOCKER, should be released before year’s end.
•We are in talks to do new anniversary editions of COMBAT SHOCK, SURF NAZIS MUST DIE, and REDNECK ZOMBIES.
•I just farted.
Until next time,
Stop touching your sister like that,
