Greetings from Tromaville!
I’m Actium Maximus.
The biggest news from Troma Team Video is the announcement that the Troma Team is finally plunging headlong into the world of PSP movies. That’s right, starting tentatively in March 2006, Troma is going to start releasing some of your favorite movies in the UMD format, which can be played on the Sony PSP.
Once the release dates are firm, I will let you know exactly when you can snag some Tromatic goodness to enjoy on that exciting and overpriced gizmo! (As an educated guess though, I would suspect that a movie about a certain hero of superhuman size and strength will probably be released in the first batch of titles.)
But enough hype. Let’s move on to... THE BEST DAMN JANUARY NEW RELEASES IN THE UNIVERSE!!! (What better way to spend your Hanukkah gelt or your Jesus blood money?)
JANUARY NEW RELEASES!

TOUCH ME IN THE MORNING
2006 is already shaping up to be the year of the Giuseppe. Start the year off right with this shocking, hilarious, down-and-dirty flick directed by and starring Giuseppe Andrews, who brought us TRAILER TOWN and starred in a little Eli Roth movie called CABIN FEVER. DVDTalk has already gone apeshit for this little gem; take a look at their DVD Talk “Highly Recommended” review.
The DVD also features interviews with Giuseppe Andrews and costar Bill Nowlin (of TRAILER TOWN and the Tromadance short film DRIBBLE), PLUS there’s 60 minutes of new short films from actor/director Giuseppe Andrews, collected together under the title AFTER SCHOOL SPECIALS.
(For more info on the Year of the Giuseppe, scroll down to the section on May). Click the poster to watch the preview!

MAX ALLAN COLLINS: THE BLACK BOX COLLECTION / THE MAC PACK
The most complete summation of the cinematic output from the creator of ROAD TO PERDITION, Max Allan Collins.
The box set features:
- EXCLUSIVE 10th Anniversary Editions of MOMMY and MOMMY 2: MOMMY'S DAY, starring THE BAD SEED's Patty McCormack.
Many fans of the laserdisc versions of these flicks will be pleased to see that the classic laserdisc extras shamefully left off the initial DVD release have been duly restored, along with brand-new extras, including spankin’ new commentaries, Max Allan Collins reading the original short story which inspired these movies, and candid full-frontal footage of the writer/director. Okay, maybe not that last one.
- REAL TIME: SIEGE AT LUCAS MARKET, which has long been one of Troma’s most innovative DVD releases, fully exploiting the medium’s multi-angle and storage capacities to the utmost. So this disc is the same: why mess with a good thing, right? (Also, we’re lazy.)
- The EXCLUSIVE brand-new anthology SHADES OF NOIR, which includes an award-winning documentary on hard-boiled pulp novelist Mickey Spillane and includes the long-lost TV pilot written and directed by film legend Blake Edwards, based on Spillane’s famous detective character "Mike Hammer."
Altogether, I’d say that’s 4 DVD’s of neo-film-noir in one sleek box! (And no, the box isn’t black: “noir” means black in French, get it?)

TROMA’S EDGE TV PRESENTS TUBE TOP TV COMEDY DOUBLE FEATURE: BACON HEAD / VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED
Some people have expressed concern that they won’t be able to find this title upon release since it could be filed under “Troma,” “Tube,” “Bacon,” or even “Viewer.” But you must admit this is a small price to pay for having the longest video title ever. It’s even one word longer than DON’T BE A MENACE TO SOUTH CENTRAL WHILE DRINKING YOUR JUICE IN THE HOOD (14 words as compared this release’s 15 words).
Well, no matter where those lazy video store clerks shelve this release, you should scour for it in order to discover two of the best little-seen sketch-comedy movies made since Troma’s WHEN NATURE CALLS. The disc also features a bonus episode of TROMA’S EDGE TV and the first deleted Lloyd Kaufman introduction in Troma history (shot on the set of POULTRYGEIST and then vetoed by Michael Herz).

WITCHCRAFT 666: THE DEVIL’S MISTRESS
This flick is a Mr.Skin pick to click, which gives it the pedigree of primo masturbation fodder. Also, there is something in it about witchcraft reportedly.

SLAUGHTER PARTY
I was reprimanded for joking about this movie making no sense last month, despite the fact that I meant it as a positive thing (clear narrative is for pussies!). So I’ll just remind you of the killer cast (SLEEPAWAY CAMP’s Felissa Rose, Adam “Seymore Butts” Glasser, Ron Jeremy, Brinke Stevens) and note that the DVD includes exclusive interviews with stars Felissa Rose and Adam Glasser, who talks about working in the adult film industry while baking cinnamon buns.

RAGIN' CAJUN
You may have noticed in the December issue of LOOK Magazine that ace reporter Dalton Ross described the shooting of the intro for Ragin’ Cajun. Well, now you can see that intro -- nay, not just an intro but a labor of love -- from Lloyd Kaufman and special guest Debbie Rochon when the disc is released next month. Also included on RAGIN’ CAJUN is THE TROMA SYSTEM, the famous 1993 infomercial which ran on Comedy Central, and which has been in storage for over a decade, unearthed by the Troma Team and remastered for you, the hardcore fans.

LOLLI LOVE
Geoffrey Kleinman of DVD Talk calls this mockumentary directed by and starring Jenna Fischer of NBC’s THE OFFICE one of the best flicks of 2005 not to play in theaters. It also stars former Troma Team member James Gunn, who directed a little movie called SLITHER which is also coming out in March, and the LOLLILOVE disc has exclusive footage from the SLITHER set!
There are about 3 hours of extras on this DVD! Goddammit! If you aren’t excited yet about this movie, what the fuck is wrong with you? Maybe you need to watch the trailer again. Click the poster to watch the trailer. |

DUMPSTER BABY
I’ve gotten a few notes inquiring as to why DUMPSTER BABY is not coming out in a double feature with PLUTONIUM BABY as was previously advertised on the site about a year ago. Well, it’s because we listened to the experts. After extensive market research, it showed that people were unlikely to buy a DVD featuring both a DUMPSTER BABY and a PLUTONIUM BABY, if, in fact, the babies were not fighting each other. And rather than deceive the buying public, we decided to bet on the sure thing, which was releasing the film festival hit DUMPSTER BABY as a solo release. |

SCARLET MOON
Coming off a triumphant New York theatrical premiere this past January 2, SCARLET MOON is primed to become the essential cult horror comedy DVD of spring ‘06. Director Warren F. Disbrow was recently profiled in the New York Times (yes, the REAL New York Times), which be can viewed
here. |

ACTING OUT
The classic documentary in which real-life people discuss and, with the help of a troupe of willing actors, even act out their most interesting sexual fantasies. From the creative geniuses behind the original version of THE PRODUCERS and ANNIE HALL (not to mention Troma’s own STUCK ON YOU and FOREPLAY), is a forgotten but unforgettable look into those thoughts many would call “dirty.” When it was released in the 1970s, Peter Wolff of PARTNER magazine called it “The Greatest Sex Film Ever Made.” He was not that far off the mark. |

PERIOD PIECE
The Year of the Giuseppe, part 2. Even for Giuseppe Andrews, this movie is pretty damn strange. Let me just say that the opening scene where a French guy anal-rapes a teddy bear with a soup can while the teddy bear’s rectum bleeds is just the tip of the iceberg. Also, for you girls (and guys) who have a crush on Giuseppe, he bares it all in this flick, in the finest example of male nudity since Bill Nowlin in TOUCH ME IN THE MORNING. Keep your eyes peeled for more Giuseppe as the year progresses. |
 |
VIDEO VIXENS
Anyone who has taken (and passed) the Troma Intelligence Test on the old-school Troma DVD's will probably recognize some of the copious nudity from this 70’s classic, costarring drive-in queen Cheryl “Rainbeaux” Smith (CAGED HEAT) and the voluptuous Robyn Hilton (BLAZING SADDLES).

PURE TERROR
In its continuing bid to exploit news headlines to frighten the shit out of you, Troma presents this new thriller about terrorists in the United States. |
There, you little brats, that oughta hold you ‘til next month.
Your friend and mine,
