DUE TO AN OVERWHELMING NUMBER OF ENTRIES TROMADANCE SUBMISSIONS DEADLINE EXTENDED UNTIL 2/28

“I love TromaDance, everyone is so great, the films are amazing, and I loved Asbury Park and the Audiences.”
Bill Plympton, Academy-Award-Nominated Animator

Due to an overwhelming number of submissions and many requests, the call for submissions for the 15th Annual TromaDance Film Festival has now been extended! The new cut-off date for entries is February 28, 2014. We are very grateful for the submissions that we have received thus far and look forward to making this the best TromaDance yet!

More About TromaDance

TromaDance is the first film festival wholeheartedly devoted to filmmakers and fans. Unlike every other film festival, TromaDance does not charge filmmakers to submit their films. Entrance to all screenings is free and open to the public. Also, there are no VIP reservations or preferential treatment regarding films, panels, or parties of any kind given. The organizers of TromaDance believe films are meant to be seen, especially when it comes to new filmmakers. Art – in all its forms – is for the people!

TromaDance features a range of films made independently, usually without big stars, big money and far removed from the Hollywood studio system. The official selections of TromaDance have been made with nothing more than passion, courage, integrity, and raw talent.

Everyone at TromaDance is treated as an equal. The elite and the celebrated are treated no better or worse than the experimental filmmaker or the random moviegoer off the street. Admittance to all screenings, panels, parties, and events is strictly on a first come, first served basis. If there are any VIPs at TromaDance, they are the filmmakers whose blood, sweat, and hard work are on the screen.

TromaDance is an opportunity for everyone who’s ever picked up a camera to have their work seen without the compromises required by elitist cartel interference. TromaDance is proud to be the first and only film festival of the people, for the people, and by the people.

What The Critics Are Saying About RTNH Vol. 1

CRITICS LOVE RETURN TO NUKE ‘EM HIGH VOL 1 OPENING JAN 16 AT LAEMMLE NOHO 7!
“People were cheering, yelling, laughing, jumping out of their seats, and just contributing wholeheartedly to the onscreen festivities. It was amazing.” – Interview Magazine

After selling out the Museum of Modern Art during it’s induction into the 2013 Contenders series and a successful opening in NY, the critics reviews are in on Lloyd Kaufman’s latest film “Return to Nuke ‘Em High Vol. 1.” Here’s what the critics are saying:

The New York Times

“Powered by ribald bursts of bad taste and bodily fluids… The overall effect is [sic] joyous.”

Chicago Now

“This film has an extremely retro flavor, including the 80s-flavored theme song and typical teenage sterotypes: the heroine of modest means who just wants to save the world, poor little rich girl, dweeby nerds, fat guys, dumb jocks, etc.etc.etc. Director Lloyd Kaufman, in typical Troma style, takes all this and twists it into a hilarious, disgusting mess that both shocks and entertains the viewer.”  Read more…

When Troma Met MoMA

“The latest film from Troma Entertainment, Return To Nuke Em High: Vol. 1, is not exactly a sequel to 1986’s Class of Nuke Em High—it’s more of a revamped, rebooted reimagining for a new generation. It is embarrassingly clear at this point that modern Hollywood reproductions of successful films of the past are usually nothing more than a shameless cash grab. What sets Return To Nuke Em High: Vol. 1 apart from these other unwarranted and ultimately forgettable remakes is the fact that it is perhaps the best parody of this unfortunate plague on the current film landscape to date.”  READ MORE!

Variety Film Review: ‘Return to Nuke ’Em High Volume 1’

Return to Nukeem High

“Lloyd Kaufman returns to the director’s chair with a hearty blast of Troma-branded schlock.

Rabid fans who delight in the wretched excess — or, if you prefer, excessive wretchedness — of Lloyd Kaufman’s infamous Troma schlock factory will doubtless embrace “Return to Nuke Em High Volume 1” with all the fervent appreciation that a more conventional cinephile might reserve for a fully restored edition of “The Magnificent Ambersons.” ” READ MORE
